Originally written by Tim Perry for The United States Army Band, Trackin’ is a rudimental percussion ensemble piece for six drummers. It calls for 4 snare drums and 2 bass drums of any style. Whether concert, marching, or rope drums, it is entirely up to the performers and their desired tastes. The title Trackin’ refers to a military phrase taken from the word “tracking.” This means to be on the same page and to understand the present situation to the fullest. In this piece, all six performers will need to “be on the same page” to execute effectively.
